NOW, the really big news!  For years the Key West by the Sea Association has been working with the government to have the units soundproofed from the airport nearby.  The airport has never been a problem and is not really noisy.  But, now, over the next couple of years each unit is going through huge changes.  NIP (Noise Insulation Program—a Government Agency) is going to completely change out all the windows with double pained soundproof, hurricane proof, and rust proof replacements.  The same thing is being done to the sliding doors.  All wall and window A/C units will be removed.  The new units will be a quiet central A/C system.  The entries will be replaced with soundproof and hurricane proof doors.  The units will be so tight that special air ducts are being installed so the doors can be closed.  The current existing storm shutters will no longer be necessary.  Overall NIP will be installing tens of thousands of dollars in improvements at no cost to the owners.
